Dr. Larry Baxter was awarded a Distinguished Professorship in the Department of Energy at Aalborg University. The 3-year appointment will provide significant research support for Dr. Baxter’s carbon capture research and Dr. Baxter will contribute 2 months a year directly collaborating with Aalborg University. Importantly, Aalborg, like BYU, has a particular focus on Experiential Learning. At Aalborg, 75% of engineering classroom instruction is focused on hands-on, problem-based engineering learning instead of traditional lecture-based learning. The BYU Chemical Engineering Department has recently revamped its curriculum to include problem-based lab experiences throughout the curriculum. Dr. Baxter hopes this collaboration will further assist the BYU Chemical Engineering Department as it continues to increase and improve problem-based experiential learning experiences.
